If you can please read a good book by Moulana Fazlur Rahman a scholar of hadith from South Africa. he discusses hadith on the turban but also on the topee.
There are reports on the topee from such as
Hazrat Ibn Umar ( RA) but none of them are Sahih and there is contention over some narrations.
