Culture

A word we hear often these days more so as we live in a multicultural society.
The word "culture" comes from the latin culura which is a derivative of the verb colere meaning tending or cultivation.
It was first recorded in the Oxford Dictionary in 1510.Today we would define it as the way of life of a specific group.
So let us explore what is main culture of the world today. In most parts of the world today it is that of Western Europe and America.
Dr Bilal Philips in his Book (The Clash of Civilisations) published 2007, explains this culture was exported to the remainder of the world during the period of European colonization and thus continued during the what we know as the neo-colonial era by way of indirect rule.

Today in the UK as President Obama spoke, he referred to this close bond between the two super powers namely the US and the UK.
Today we are bombarded with so called western culture and it is very difficult to escape its onslaught.
Even though Obama in his speech mentioned the other two growing powers India and China, they two are heavily influenced by western culture.
my question and deep concerns are is this good and more so it it healthy and is it the right direction for humanity?
To hear the presidents speech and his comments on the ties between the UK and the US and that the future will be led by these two powers, it shoes or seems like this western influence is to carry on, or is it?
