In a book called Seven Ways to Change the World , by Jim Wallis, it deals with the christian faith in the US and politics. Jim Wallis before writing this book wrote another book called "Gods Politics", so you can see where he is coming from. Whether he is what you class as a neoconservative, I don't know, although probably?. Why I say this is generally any religious christian person who supports the re birth of politics and faith in the USA is either of two 1) Christian Zionist 2) Neo- conservative.
Politics and religion was separated along time ago,hence the new era of the new religion launched by Darwin.
The only religion that has not followed the devil into the hole is Islam.
This is why the enemies of Islam hate the Muslims and the religion so much. They have tried for so long now to break the religion and separate politics from the faith. But they failed and will continue to fail.
Politics is part of Islam and it always will and can never be left aside.
Jim Wallis and his chums therefore can keep hoping and writing, but it wont happen.
