250 million and rising

£250 million and rising, this is what it has cost the British Govt so far in Libya. This is excluding Afghanistan.

What is so important in these countries that vasts sums of money continually are injected?

The new alliance party in the UK keeps saying as it has done since taking office, that the country is in a financial crisis hence the massive cut backs in all sectors , both public and private, yet out of the blue they keep coming up with all this money for a war that I'm really unsure is all bout and what Britain's role is?

All I presume it can be, is to do with oil.? Likewise Afghanistan, a country of barren land, no resources, but a geopolitical gem in the crown.
There is the poppy fields, but surly the west would not be involved in drug dealing would they?
