The devil has different names, but understanding how he works is key to be able to keep on the straight and narrow.
In Islam he is known as Satan, who is a jinn who was assigned the role of teaching angels. Hes made from fire and as we know fire is a form of energy. Satan cannot be defeated by man, only by seeking protection in Allah SWT.
We learn that Satan has respite till the end of the world and until such time he will do what he can to create disturbance, havoc in peoples lives, hearts, minds.
His main objective is to deceive people in thinking things look ok, good, exciting, but in fact are the opposite.
he is not so worried about people who are always involved in wrong, but he is concerned about the people who are connected to God, or who are trying to connect.
Above all he tries to keep man busy all the time and to take man away from every opportunity in thinking and pondering, etc. If man was given the time to do this without doubt his thoughts would go towards trying to work out what is the purpose of life.
